Dorte X. Gram (Danish, born 1969) is the founder, Chairman of the Board and CSO in Pila Pharma AB.
Since the establishment of Pila Pharma AB, she has served as the company’s CEO (2014- 2024) as well as Director or Chairman of the Board (since 2014).
In her role as new Chairman and CSO, she will continue a 7-year strong collaboration with the new CEO, Gustav Hanghøj Gram. As Chairman, Dorte will focus on supporting the new CEO in all aspects of the business. With his primary focus being on finance and investor relations including share performance. As CSO, Dorte will in addition work diligently on progressing Pila Pharma’s R&D assets including generating new IP. As well she will work to further develop Pila Pharmas QA to build a strong organisation that can deliver high quality development candidates for big pharma focusing on TRPV1.
Dorte X Gram graduated as veterinarian (DVM) in 1996 and was awarded the PhD title in 2003. She has profound experience from the life-science industry, whereof more than 10 years were in Diabetes Research & Development at Novo Nordisk A/S, Denmark working with various project teams within the diabetes and obesity research areas with small molecules and peptides including insulin- and GLP-1- analogues. She is the author of several scientific publications with a focus on TRPV1 in diabetes or anti-diabetic agents as well as of patents related to TRPV1 in diabetes and to basal insulin analogues.
Dorte X. Gram is the inventor of the principle of treating diabetes and obesity with TRPV1 antagonists – a discovery-by-surprise during her PhD studies at Novo Nordisk, Denmark. In 2008, she acquired the rights to the invention from Novo Nordisk, Denmark, had use-patents issued via her mother-company XENIA PHARMA, Denmark and, in 2014, founded Pila Pharma AB in Sweden as a subsidiary and transferred the use-patents to Pila Pharma AB.
Besides, Dorte is owner of XENIA PHARMA ApS, Denmark, the Chairman of the Board and co-owner of Gram Equity Invest AB, Sweden (Family Office) and owner of Bara Gamla Skola Islandshästar, Sweden where she breeds potential future world class competition horses.
