Mark Evans

Mark Evans is a Reader in Diabetic Medicine in the University of Cambridge’s Wellcome Trust/ MRC Institute of Metabolic science. He is also an Honorary Consultant Physician in Addenbrookes Hospital (Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Trust).

He trained in Medicine in London and started his research career in Professor Stephanie Amiel’s team based at Kings College Hospital before spending 3 years at Yale University in Professor Robert Sherwin’s laboratory. In 2002 he returned to the UK to take up a faculty position in Cambridge. He has published over 100 original articles with over 5500 citations and an h index of 41

He is interested in hypoglycaemia and brain glucose sensing, medical technology (pumps, glucose sensors and automated insulin delivery) and structured education in diabetes. Clinically, he is medical lead for a large type 1 diabetes service in Cambridge including > 800 adults using insulin pumps. He is sits on a number of advisory boards and research funding panels.
